What's already been done when your puppy arrives, and what your vet picks up from there.
Our vaccination programme
Every puppy leaves us with age-appropriate vaccinations complete and full written records. Immunity is built in a series, not a single shot — maternal antibodies interfere with early doses, which is why the schedule repeats every few weeks until around sixteen weeks of age.
Vaccination schedule
- 6–8 weeks
DHPP — 1st dose
Distemper, hepatitis (adenovirus), parainfluenza and parvovirus. Given by us before any puppy goes home.
Done by us - 10–12 weeks
DHPP — 2nd dose + Bordetella
Second combination dose, plus kennel cough protection if your puppy will meet other dogs, board, or attend classes.
Your vet - 14–16 weeks
DHPP — 3rd dose
Third dose. Immunity is only reliable once the series is complete — this is the one people skip and should not.
Your vet - 16+ weeks
Rabies + final DHPP
Rabies as required by your state, alongside the final combination dose. Boosters annually or triennially thereafter.

Deworming
Puppies are dewormed on a rolling schedule from two weeks of age. Roundworms in particular are extremely common and are passed from the dam, so this is routine rather than a sign of anything wrong.
- 2 weeks First dose (pyrantel pamoate)
- 4 weeks Second dose
- 6 weeks Third dose
- 8 weeks Fourth dose, plus a faecal check before going home
Your vet will advise on ongoing parasite prevention, including heartworm, fleas and ticks.
Records provided with each puppy
- A dated vaccination record listing every dose given, the product used and the batch number.
- The deworming schedule with dates and products.
- A veterinary health certificate confirming your puppy was fit to travel.
- A VitalStart health report, for the puppies whose listings include it.
- Microchip number and registration details, where the puppy is chipped. Mima is not yet chipped — her page says so.
Keep your puppy safe until the series is finished. Until roughly two weeks after the final DHPP dose, your puppy is not reliably protected. Avoid dog parks, pet shop floors, rest stops and anywhere unknown dogs toilet. Parvovirus survives in soil for months and travels on shoes. Socialise in the meantime by carrying your puppy, and by inviting known, vaccinated dogs to visit — the socialisation window matters too, so the answer is not to keep them indoors and isolated.
Vaccination requirements and rabies timing vary by state and by veterinarian. This schedule is what we follow; your vet's advice takes precedence for your own dog.
